Reflection no.5

On 9^th November, I taught a lesson on ‘Alphabet Sound of d’ to class PP student using ICT facilities like laptop, projector and internet. To introduce the lesson, I have used my laptop and projector to show them short video clip on letter sound of d. Before watching the video I provided them, clear instructions what they should do and shouldn’t do. I noticed each and every individual paying full attention and they were able to tell the letter sound and words related to letter ‘d’ after they watched the video.

 

After that I demonstrated to provide additional information on the letter sound of d. 

During the activity I instructed them to take out their work book and let them turn to page no.28 and complete the task. I corrected their task on the spot and provided necessary feedbacks

Finally, we discussed more words with related to letter sound 'd' and I am really satisfied as all the students could come up with new words from letter d.

 

 

Reflection 4 on ICT integration                                                               Date: 04/11/2021

The use of ICT is important in 21^st century.  The ICT in school can be used as a school communication tool to improve student learning and better teaching techniques. The use of ICT adds value to teaching and learning by enhancing the effectiveness of learning, because ICT provide an array of powerful tools that may help in transforming the present isolated, teacher-centered and text bound classroom into rich, student-focused, interactive knowledge environment. Unlike before, due to the advance in technologies there is a vast change in educational system moreover it helps not only in finding information but also in organizing information and making it easier to share with others.

Today’s lesson was on preposition –in, on, and under for class PP. I began the lesson by showing the video on preposition using projector. In case of learning by watching video was very progressive, I also understood that students learn best in collaboration with peers, teachers, parents and others when they are actively engaged in meaningful and interesting tasks. ICT provides opportunities for teacher and students to collaborate with others across the globe. It also provide new tool to support this collaborative learning in the classroom.

After watching the video I showed them a pen and asked question by keeping the pen at different places to provide more information. I found out that all most all the students could answers my questions. From that I could say ICT provide powerful new tools to support children’s’ learning. While reading about learning is facilitated by breaking content/instruction into small isolated units, it says the technology of mass education is quite adapted at breaking the knowledge and skills into thousand of little standardized, decontextualized pieces, which could be taught and tested one at a time.

As an activity I asked them to take out their work book and instructed them to take out their work book and turn to page no.30 and instructed them to write. All the students actively participated and finished the activity within the speculated time.

 

It says that integrating ITC allows the students to learn through interaction, construct knowledge, and share the knowledge- building experiences. So, ICT provide powerful new tools to support cognitive development.

Reflection no.3 for ICT integration in the class

I had a lesson on 18^th October on the topic “Teenage Pregnancy” for Class V. The lesson was for 60 minutes. Firstly I asked few questions to check their prior knowledge on the topic and then I used my lap top to browse the video on YOUTUBE using the link: Teenage Pregnancy - YouTube   to introduce the topic as shown below:

 

 

The children were asked to watch the video very carefully as, they will be ask questions in-between , I found out that the children whole heartily engrossed in watching the video. When I posed the questions, they were able to answers the questions. I felt that if the children were given opportunities to use ITC, they would love to learn it. From that I can tell using ICT really help the children learn better.

In the activity part I provided them tablets for individual children and asked them to open their tablets and click to the social studies text. Instruct the students to read the text from page no.42-43.

 

To wind up the lesson I posed some questions to check how much students have learned. I found out that the students really enjoyed the lesson and could answer all the questions asked to them. Use of ITC in the classroom really help children engaged in their task and become more informative.

 

 

Reflection of my teaching using ICT

ICT change in a paradigm shift in educational philosophy and school curriculum system is the information gatherer vs. information consumer. It is the student's centered learning and active learning as all the learners are engaged and explore on their own, a teacher is just a facilitator.

On 28^th September 2021, I taught English for class PP integrating ICT learning using ICT helps to live- 

long learners and they can categorize the learning materials in a way that students of all groups can 

grasp everything that is being taught to them. The topic taught to them is "Verbs " (Action Words) and

the learning objectives were:

 i. tell four action words (clap, climb, dance, fly) fluently after the activity.

 ii. Pronounce the action words and write the action words correctly.

I started the lesson with a greeting, revising the day, weather, and the previous lesson then I wrote a sentence on the chalkboard and asked them to tell me what the teacher was doing? And link the topic with the word write after that wrote the topic on the chalkboard. Then the teacher shows few actions and asked them to tell what the teacher is doing.

I stopped the video in between and discussed by posting questions to make students more critical thinkers in an ICT class. I felt satisfied after the activity because in the learning process I have provided the best information through action, emphasizing the words and let them repeat after me. ICT is helpful as the children get the opportunity to observe and learn. It’s an application of modern technology to interact and share information with my children for learning and help them become more competent. After the activity, I called the student in front of the class and let them show the action when a teacher read out. After that, the children were provided the opportunity to write the action words taught to them. In the closure, I asked them to read what they had written to the whole class.

My lesson went very well as I could fulfill my objectives without compromising my competency. I felt that teaching through ICT makes the children understand the content better.

 

 

 

                          

 

Reflection for ICT integration in the class

I understood that information and communication technologies are technological tools that are used to communicate as well as design, develop and manage information. Even the use of mobile, laptop, computers, tablets and internet are included in ICT. I also understood that ICT plays an important role in enhancing the students learning and better teaching methods, it can motivate students and teachers, and it helps us fulfill the lesson objectives effectively.

To integrate ICT in my lesson I learned that ICT plays an important role in the classroom, as it provides opportunities for teachers and students to operate, store, manipulate and retrieve information and moreover it allows the students to explore more of their own rather than depending on teachers. It also helps students for building successful careers and lives, in 21^st century and it also talks about how ICT change the learning environment.

I had a lesson on 16^th August on the topic “Demonstrative Pronoun” for Class PP. I used my lap top to browse the video on YOUTUBE to introduce my topic as shown below:

 I found out that the children really enjoyed the lesson by being very active, attentive, and engrossed in watching the video. When I pose the questions they were able to answers the questions. If they were given opportunities to explore by themselves they would love to learn it. From that I can tell using ICT really help the children learn better. In the activity part I provided them the link and asked them to open the link to watch the video. From that activity I learned that digital native is generally comfortable in the digital age, because they grew up using technology. The children process the information quickly, enjoys multi- tasking and gaming, As a result the teachers must change the teaching strategies in order to engage their students in learning.

 

In the conclusion, I used projector to pose the questions and it was my first time using projector to teach my lesson for pre primary children. I found out that the students really enjoyed the lesson and could answer all the questions posted on the projector.
